Alice in Wonderland: 2012 Engagement Calendar Details
With the classic tale running through the entire year, the storybook Alice in Wonderland 2012 Engagement Calendar is a must-have for Disney fans of any age.* Based on Disney's film version of Lewis Carroll's classic tale, Alice in Wonderland 2012 Engagement Calendar tells the story of Alice's adventures through the Looking Glass.* The art included in this calendar was created by heralded Disney legend Mary Blair as drawings, color studies, and storyboards for the original film. They elevate the story to a new artistic level perfectly suited for grownups and kids alike.* Features appearances by everyone's favorite characters, including the Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, the Walrus and the Carpenter, and, of course, the Mad Hatter.

Reviews
I'm writing this in the hope that the good people at Universe/Rizzoli will read this and accept a little friendly advice for their 2013 edition of the calendar.First off, I love that this calendar even exists. Mary Blair's artwork is so sublime and beautiful that I held out buying any others to wait for this one's release. And the printing inside does the artwork justice, which is not easy. Plus I love that each spread inside includes a unique piece of art from Mary Blair's designs. But I felt compelled to remove one "star" from my review because of what I perceive to be some basic and easily avoidable flaws.1) This is by far my biggest gripe. I am dumbfounded to understand why the designer chose to place the same muted image of Alice looking up at the Cheshire Cat on every single calendar page (the pages with the dates). First off, it defies the very function of an engagement calendar because it makes it very hard to read ones own writing on the page. Secondly, it REALLY distracts from the Mary Blair artwork that faces each of those pages, which is why I bought this calendar in the first place. I honestly believe that leaving each of these pages white, or at least a soft linen white would have been a far better decision. Also, seeing this same illustration page after page is a little repetitive.2) Please release your 2013 calendar a little earlier next year. This one was released in mid November, which is just too late for the type of person who uses an engagement calendar in the first place.3) Having said that, it would also be very helpful to add a few more pages to the back of the calendar to represent the fist few months of 2013 for those of use who have to put entries into our calendars long before the year is over. I would say that this would be especially useful if you're going to release your calendars so late in the year again. If I knew that these issues were going to be addressed -- especially the design problem -- I wouldn't hesitate picking this calendar up again next year.
