I learned so much by reading this book. Meltzer showed both Lange's positives and negatives. As a writer, I liked her photographs without captions. Then, the viewer can bring his or her own response. Many years ago, I cut out the picture that is featured on the front of the book. I was taken by it then, because of its stark portrayal of the unknown in the woman's face. I must find that clipping and review it. Reading the book and discussing it was well worth my time.
