Reviews

The book contains far too few color plates, and many of them are thumbnail size (absolutely worthless); others are justrepetitions of earlier paintings. For example, the book contains four thumbnail reproductions of "The Vampire". Thebook contains more photograps than color plates. Some of these were taken by Munch and others by anonymousphotograhers. The book does contain some interesting essays on how photography and stage scenery influencedvarious aspects of some of Munch's paintings. The book by David Loshak published by PRC Press is vastly superiorto the book I'm reviewing, and it's less expensive too.
