Reviews

If you are a Julius Shulman fan, you are probably very familiar with his Case Study photos or the gorgeous images he captured in Palm Springs or his iconic shots of the incredible Prairie Chicken House in Oklahoma. There are books upon books of these fantastic images, but this Vest Pocket book is something completely different.I was lucky enough to have dinner with Mr. Shulman and look through this little book with him. He told me that he first became interested in photography when he received a small Vest Pocket camera as a gift from his sister. These are the images he took with that camera in the 20's and early 1930's, and they are as beautiful as any of his more famous photographs that came later. They are images of friends and family, L.A. when it was still a small city, stunning landscapes, and, of course, architecture.I highly recommend this book for anyone who appreciates photography, history, or Shulman's work.
